In November of 2021, my friend and frequent collaborator Motëm asked if I would be willing to work on a new music video for him for a song from his most recent mixtape. As I have known him for several years, I knew that he loved nature and shooting videos in nature, so my first instinct was to shoot somewhere outside. He had also been talking to me recently about his new guitar that he is holding on the cover of the mixtape. I told him it would be an interesting parallel to explore if he were to bring his electric guitar with him to the video shoot. We finished recording after about 45 minutes and I immediately uploaded the footage to my computer and began editing the video. I typically like to start editing shortly after I finish filming so that I can preserve a lot of the thoughts and feelings that I had that day. Oftentimes I will finish an entire edit in one day/evening and this time was no exception. Overall I was very happy with the way I was able to blend the digital video with my analog video mixers to create a unique visual project that felt both modern, and retro.
